St. John's College Porters' Lodge in Oxford Completes

Updated: Nov 24, 2020

Savvy Construction was delighted to secure this ‘once in a generation’ scheme to fully refurbish the prestigious Grade II Listed St. John’s College Porters' Lodge in Oxford. Working with Ridge & Partners LLP, Savvy went about sympathetically restoring the Lodge to modernise the space and give a much better flow around the building. Work involved the forming of two stone entrance arches, housing new arched-headed glass doors, set in solid oak frames and geared by automated pull-assist mechanical floor boxes. The installation of new Yorkstone flooring to the ‘Public Lodge’, the reconfiguration of internal partitions to form new glazed office spaces, the restoration of metal and timber sliding sash windows, with new secondary glazing, restoration of Listed timber panelling, the installation of new Mechanical and Electrical services and fittings throughout and the careful finishing of new and existing surfaces with decorations and floor finishes. New Oak joinery and fittings to serve the College Staff, Fellows and Students was carefully installed to complete this stunning transformation for our delighted client.
