131 High Street
Oxford
A refurbishment of 131 High Street in Oxford for Queen's College. This was a complex project that posed many logistical challenges given its location above busy shops and bars and the delicate nature of the frame of the building, originally built in 1820s.
Working with English Heritage and Lambert Smith Hampton, Savvy undertook a complete removal and replacement of the roof, external and internal render from the first floor to the fifth and windows as well as extensive repair to the original timer frame. Poor rendering over the years had created significant damp rot in the timber frame and roof space which needed to be addressed without interruption to the busy pedestrian footpath, coffee shop and public house shop that occupy the ground floor of the site
